Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

How do AptiPilot tests compare to airline aptitude tests?

AptiPilot tests are designed to prepare you for the skills, structure, and pressure of airline aptitude testing. Some tests closely resemble exercises used by airlines, while others focus on building the underlying cognitive abilities airlines assess, such as multitasking, spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, and information processing.

While no practice platform can replicate an airline’s proprietary tests exactly, AptiPilot is built to give you realistic preparation and confidence before attending an airline assessment centre.

Who are AptiPilot tests suitable for?

AptiPilot is suitable for:

  • Cadet pilot applicants
  • Self-funded and integrated course applicants
  • PPL and CPL holders preparing for airline assessments
  • Candidates returning to aptitude testing after time away

No prior aptitude test experience is required — the platform is designed to be approachable for beginners while still challenging experienced candidates.

How do payments work?

AptiPilot plans are purchased as a one-off payment for a fixed access period. Once your access expires, you can renew your plan at any time to continue using the platform.

There are no subscriptions, recurring charges, or automatic renewals.

Are payments secure?

Yes. All payments are processed securely through Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 — the highest standard of payment security. AptiPilot never stores or has access to your card details.

What happens when my access ends? Do I lose my results?

No. Your test results and progress are securely stored even after your access expires. If you renew your plan, your new results will be added to your existing history.

If you would like your account or data permanently deleted, simply contact us and we will action this promptly.

Can I upgrade or change plans later?

Yes. You can upgrade or purchase additional plans at any time. Your existing progress and results will remain linked to your account.

Do airlines recommend or endorse AptiPilot?

AptiPilot is an independent preparation platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any airline. However, it is designed specifically around the skills and demands commonly assessed during airline pilot selection.

How long should I practice for?

Most candidates benefit from short, regular practice sessions over several weeks rather than long sessions in a short time frame. AptiPilot allows you to track progress so you can identify strengths and areas needing improvement.

Over-practising immediately before an assessment is generally not recommended, as fatigue can reduce performance.

Can practicing aptitude tests make me worse?

Used correctly, no. However, excessive or unfocused practice can increase stress or encourage poor habits. AptiPilot is designed to help you practise deliberately, with feedback and performance tracking rather than blind repetition.

How do I use a joystick with the tests?

Many AptiPilot tests support joystick input. For setup instructions, compatibility information, and recommended settings, please see our Joystick User Guide.

Are the tests available offline?

No. All AptiPilot tests are delivered online. This ensures they remain secure, reliable, and continuously updated across all supported devices.

Are the tests mobile or tablet compatible?

The tests will run on devices with sufficient screen resolution; however, they are designed primarily for use with a mouse and/or joystick.

For the best experience and most accurate practice, we strongly recommend using a desktop or laptop computer (PC or Mac) rather than a phone or tablet.

What equipment do I need?

At minimum:

  • A desktop or laptop computer
  • A mouse

For certain tests, a joystick is recommended to better replicate airline assessment conditions.
